This video is a good demonstration of Kipping Pull-ups, Strict Regular Pull-ups and Band Assisted Pull-ups for those who are just starting out. Pull-ups are a compound body weight type exercise. Pull-ups target the Latissimus Dorsi as well as the Brachialis, Brachioradialis, Teres Major, Deltoid, Rhomboids, Levator Scapulae, Trapezius, Pectoralis Major and Pectoralis Minor.
Here are some seriously buff women working out at a Crossfit affiliate gym. The first exercise of the “Fran” routine is called a thruster (I call it painful), and thereafter the girls head straight into some kipping pull-ups. Quite a workout! Can you beat their time?
Another pair of amazing women getting’ it done with the pull-up bar.
In this video we see two different types of pull-ups being performed here. The woman on the left is performing a gymnastic-type “kip” and the woman on the right is cranking out some frog-type kips.
If you are curious about the kip pull-up exercises featured here, this dude has a pretty good explanation, if I do say so myself.
These types of pull-ups were recently made popular by the “300 Workout” (the workout was used to train the actors for the epic drama 300) which was designed by the evil, workout genius, Gym Jones.
